Hi Liza, I'm involved with indigenous youth at risk in darwin where we're using film, theatre and music to develop students' literacy, vocational communication skills. I'd be interested to know if you have heqrd of any similar programmes operating around NSW/Australia.

Dear Liza,
I apologise for contacting you on such a public forum,
would prefer to do it in a more private sphere but can't seem to find your email :)
My Name's Nichole Soo and i'm workshops coordinator for 2009 on the 'Breaking Down Boundaries' committee. Our conference is aimed at making law more accessible and just. You can read more about our program if you'd like at http://breakingdownboundaries.wordpress.com/

On the 4th till the 6th of December we're holding the conference and were hoping to incorporate some form of Indigenous theatre inorder to enrich the program.
I would really appreciate it if you could email me back so i could ask you a few questions on Indigenous theatre etc and what options we could pursue, I'd love to hear your informed opinion :)

I look forward and hope to hear from you :)

Kind regards,
Nichole Soo

Hi, Im working on a presentation on Meta Theatre in Indigenous Theatre. Meta theatre being that which shows a play's theatricality like, for example speaking directly to the audience.. In the few indigenous plays I have read, they all seem to have this degree of theatricality to them eg- Man in The Cakeman, chorous in Black Medea, Geoff in King Hit. I am wanting to use this as a discussion topic. Was wondering if you had any ideas as to why...traditional storytelling? Easy was to impart didactic information?
Thanks!
